Highlights is a new series of original works of fiction aimed at students aged 10-15 years who are reading below level. The stories were specifically written for this audience with each author writing three stories to create a mini-series, thus encouraging the reader to want to read more. Each mini-series is in the same genre. Highlights Set 1 covers different genres - Adventure, Mystery, Fantasy and Realist Fiction - helping readers to learn the language conventions associated with the genre.
Each book is supported by full colour 'manga style' illustrations to reinforce and supplement the text. Every right hand page is an illustration designed to accompany the text and assist in comprehension. The stories are dynamic and use a variety of dramatic devices including changes of perspective and variations of cell size and shape.
